Either move one orthogonal step or place one wall across two edges. Jump over an adjacent opponent if the cell beyond is accessible. If a wall or the board edge prevents that jump, diagonal steps around that opponent may be available.
The first pawn to reach any square on the opposite edge wins.
Walls cannot overlap or cross. Every placement must leave at least one route to the goal for both players. Select a gap, inspect the preview, then confirm.
Board setup, special rules and winning conditions for Quoridor.
A wall that seals the final route is illegal even if it also leaves your own route open.
Quoridor is an abstract race game for two players on a 9×9 board. Each player has a pawn on opposite edges and ten walls. On a turn you either move your pawn one step or place a wall to lengthen your opponent's path, but every wall must leave both players a route to their goal. The first pawn to reach the opposite edge wins.
No. Every wall must leave both pawns at least one path to their goal edge, and the board rejects any wall that would seal a route. You can still use walls to make your opponent's path much longer.
Only when the opponent's pawn is directly next to yours and a wall or the board edge stops you jumping straight over it. You may then step to either side of that pawn, unless a wall blocks that step. ChessPlayX treats the board edge like a wall here.
Each player starts with ten walls. Once yours are used up, you must move your pawn every turn. Placed walls stay for the rest of the game; they cannot be moved, and new walls may not overlap or cross them.
