Vietnamese Math Chess by Vũ Văn Bảy uses a 9×11 board and pieces numbered 0–9. Capture the opposing zero to win.
Move and calculate
Zero never moves. Other pieces move on a clear horizontal, vertical or diagonal line, at most their numeric value. To capture, a piece jumps over an adjacent friendly support toward an enemy.
Arithmetic capture distance
The result determines distance from the support to the target. Addition and multiplication use the units digit; subtraction uses a positive difference; division uses integer quotient or remainder. The target's number need not match the result.
