Quick answer
Start with the game result
Scroll the table sideways to compare all columns.
| Result | 2–1–0 scale | 1–½–0 scale |
|---|---|---|
| Win | 2 | 1 |
| Draw | 1 | ½ |
| Loss | 0 | 0 |
A player with two wins and one draw has 5 points on the first scale and 2½ on the second. The ordering is equivalent for this example, but the figures are not interchangeable on an official score sheet.
Team events need another level
Articles 9.2–9.4 distinguish the scores of individual games and team results. First record each board's result, then calculate the team result according to the event format. A team winning one board has not necessarily won the match.
- Confirm every individual result.
- Apply the event's game-point scale.
- Derive team/round totals using the announced format.
- Resolve equal final totals using Article 10's relevant ranking system.
FAQ
Does a draw always earn one point?
It earns one point under the 2–1–0 scale, or half a point under the permitted 1–½–0 alternative. Check which scale the event uses.
